The Battlefield Stakes

$75,000

For Three-Year-Olds and Upward

One Mile - Haskell Turf Course

Saturday, July 9, 2011  Race 10

Main Track: Fast  Turf: Good

Finish Wire:

After the break Sayif went to the lead and looked as if he would be the rabbit for stablemate Nownownow.  Get Serious would once again have trouble getting the lead and chased the leader through torrid early fractions of 22.69, 45.55 and 1:09.52 as Monument Hill was also trying to stay in contact with the leader in third as the field made its way through the far turn and into the lane.  In the lane Sayif was starting to length his stride and his lead extended to five lengths as Get Serious had given way to Monument Hill and Yummy With Butter as the field moved through the lane.  In deep stretch Sayif was getting short in the stride but got to the wire first to win the 2011 Battlefield Stakes by a length at the wire in a final time of 1:34.40.  Yummy With Butter closed well for second while Monument Hill managed third.  Sayif is a five-year-old dark bay/brown horse owned by Saleh Y. Al-Homaizi, trained by Patrick L. Biancone and was ridden by Channing Hill.
